Just Woodbury to Broadcast Nonnewaug Baseball Game

WOODBURY – Just Woodbury, Woodbury’s Hometown Newspaper, will partner with Robcasting Radio on May 9 to live-stream a broadcast of the Nonnewaug High School baseball game vs. Gilbert at Waterbury Municipal Stadium over the Internet.

The live-stream will allow fans who cannot attend the game  to listen to the play-by-play and color commentary. The stream will be then available as a podcast and can be replayed on-demand when the listener would like to. Nonnewaug fans all around the world will be able to conveniently listen to the game.

Veteran sportscaster Rob Adams will offer the play-by-play, and Just Woodbury’s Tim Parry will handle the color commentary. The live broadcast fits Just Woodbury’s mission of spreading the word of all the things Woodbury has to offer. Listeners will be able to access the live stream and/or podcast from this page: https://justwoodbury.com/chiefsgilbert/

“I’m really excited to call this game between Gilbert and Nonnewaug in historic Waterbury Municipal Stadium,” Adams said. “I hope fans throughout the region, as well as around the country, enjoy getting to hear their student athletes.”

Adams and Parry have had a working relationship since Parry ran the now-defunct FCIAC Football Blog from 2005 to 2010, and Adams was Sports Director at WGCH-AM Greenwich. Parry had the idea to team up with Adams to call a Nonnewaug baseball game when he heard the father of a Chiefs player fell ill, and would not be able to attend a game in the near future. Parry said he wanted to make sure that father could listen to at least one game this season, and turned to Adams for assistance.

“Rob is the consummate professional, and the perfect person to bring Nonnewaug baseball to the masses,” Parry said. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to work alongside Rob again.”

Should the broadcast be a “ratings success,” Parry said Just Woodbury would consider live-streaming other Nonnewaug sporting events in the future, most-likely starting in the fall.

EverGreen Lawn & Landscape Maintenance, Tricia’s Main Street Barber Shop, San Remo Restaurant and Pizzeria, The Woodbury Diner, New Morning Market & Vitality Center, Woodbury Brewing Company, Livin’ Country, and Maison St. Germain have signed on to sponsor the live stream.

Adams and Parry will go on the air May 9 and 6:55 p.m.
